History

DeWolfe Engineering Associates, PC was established by Richard S. DeWolfe, P.E. as a sole proprietorship in 1989, and was later incorporated in July 1996.  The primary goal of the firm is to provide efficient design at a fast track pace while meeting all of its clients’ needs.

The president and current owner of the firm, Christopher J. Temple, P.E. directs the structural engineering division. He has over thirty-two years' experience in civil and structural engineering including permitting, site engineering, utility engineering, wood, steel, concrete and plastics structural engineering; failure investigation, and foundation engineering. He is fluent in many computer structural analysis programs and hand calculations. He also provides professional testimony regularly.  His design experience is complemented by three years’ experience in high rise construction supervision and two years’ experience in home construction.

Brian Lane-Karnas, P.E. is vice president of the firm and he oversees the civil engineering division.  Mr. Lane-Karnas has over sixteen years of professional experience in the areas of civil and environmental engineering including development, permitting, site engineering.

The firm carries professional liability insurance.  A certificate of insurance can be furnished upon request for specific projects.

Engineering services provided by DeWolfe Engineering Associates, PC include permitting and all fields of civil, structural and construction engineering.

We have over thirty-two years of experience obtaining Act 250 permits for a variety of industrial and commercial clients.  In New England, we have developed relationships with key state and federal agency personnel which allows us to expedite wastewater, storm water, water supply, stream alteration, and wetland permits.

We provide complete civil engineering services including site engineering: grading, run-off hydraulics, storm drainage with retention or detention ponds, water supply, and sanitary systems; stream hydraulics;  highway design; and intersection evaluation.

Structural engineering services include the analysis and design of buildings, bridges, retaining walls, and associated specialty design features, such as trusses (heavy timber and steel), beams, columns, and foundations.  Services provided are for new construction, additions, or rehabilitation and restoration projects.  The primary materials of construction may consist of structural steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, heavy timber, wood, light gauge steel, and masonry(brick and concrete unit).

Construction engineering services which we provide include monitoring of Contractor activities, permit compliance, coordination of fast track projects, shoring design, and inspection services. 

Staff are qualified as experts in both administrative permitting hearings and civil litigation.

All of our personnel are trained to put the client’s needs first.  Our staff’s professional talent and energetic nature provide our clients with a balance of expertise and efficiency which ultimately relates to competitive fees, timely and responsive work, and projects that are brought in on time and within budget.

To assure client satisfaction our senior engineers take an active role in all projects no matter how large or how small.  Professional licenses are held in many states and temporary licensing is available in the remainder if a specific project necessitates.
